It has been a huge year for us and a big year for the CrossFit community as well. As CrossFitters we know that these workouts work and that anyone can do it. I don't know how many times I have heard clients say to me that they were trying to convince their friends or collegues to try it out and they all say "oh no, that would be way too hard!". Well, we're all doing it aren't we? We aren't hard core monster muscle freaks are we??? So if we can do it why can't you?
Well, I was perusing through MSN.com this morning and I came across the top 11 fitness trends of 2008. I only curiously clicked on the link on the slight chance that the powers that be (the media) may have begun to realize that CrossFit is a huge up and coming fitness trend. I was cautiously optomistic that it wasn't just the 800+ CrossFit gym owners who realize that people are looking for a way to workout where they don't have to wander aimlessly around a gym lifting a weight every once in a while and then hop on the eliptical machine because they don't know what else to do. They don't want to stand around lifting 6/12/15 reps for 3 sets with 2 min rest between each set and move to the next muscle please. People want to be empowered and feel powerful they want to move and sweat they want to feel inspired.
So I was pleasantly surprised to find CROSSFIT as one of 2008's to fitness trends. So back to my first question, why can't you do it?
This leads me to our own personal big year. We - meaning me - meaning Bold Moves Fitness - will be moving into our new home on Bevan Ave in Sidney on monday Jan 5. This is a big move for me, since I have been training my client in my basement for the last year. But, I can no longer sqeeze everyone in there and it is difficult to train you while I am flattened against the wall for fear of being run over by someone running to the rowing machine who won't stop for me in case they slow their time down by 2 seconds. Plus as MSN has so wonderfuly noted CrossFit needs to be brought to the community and I am happy to offer you a place where you can run, lift, jump and sweat.
So check out the schedule, come talk to me, try a class for free. Bring your collegues, friends and family. Find out what this big fitness trend of 2008 is all about, because if we can do it, so can you.
